TL;DR: Wispr Flow can now directly tag files in Cursor and Windsurf.

I wanted to share more about why building Flow for developers is so important to me.

I've probably written more code than English in my life. I taught myself to code when I was 10, built and shipped 60+ apps during middle school and high school, spent 20 hours a day doing competitive programming, and won a medal at the International Olympiad in Informatics. I wanted to make sure Wispr was a product that was delightful for developers like me around the world.

Since 2008, software development has evolved a lot. Today, it’s as much natural language as it is code. One thing we all learned in the process: if you give enough context in a prompt, Cursor/Windsurf will one-shot your problem.

But I, at least, was too lazy, and I often would just say "fix this bug." Of course, it failed miserably at meeting my high expectations. But this should really be effortless, just like talking to a close friend.

Enter Wispr Flow. Press a button, speak naturally, and Flow writes for you perfectly. We built a system that was blazingly fast, highly accurate, and highly personalized. It was the first voice experience that felt just right.

It was January 2025 and my prompts went from "fix this bug" to "Hey, I was doing this, then this happened, then I saw this—can you please fix?" And Cursor started one-shotting all my rambles. It felt effortless to speak. The grunt work of painstakingly typing long prompts was gone. Every prompt felt like a dopamine hit.

In the next few months, it went viral. It was mentioned by top tech leaders like Andrej Karpathy and used by developers at NVIDIA, Lovable, and Windsurf. It became indispensable for developers.

Feedback started coming in. 90% of all messages said the same thing: "Can I just tag files with Flow?" While Flow made everything about prompting effortless, we hadn't replaced the primitive act of tagging files.

Until today. As of July 30, you can just say "can you fix the Google auth issue in authCheck.ts?" and Wispr will tag the right file in Cursor and Windsurf. No extension. No extra clicks. Just speak and Flow will take care of the rest.

Big shoutout to our beta users who shared invaluable feedback. I'm really excited to release this to all of you today. ❤️

For me, this isn’t just a feature drop—it’s another step toward a future where developers can just speak, and Flow handles the rest.
