Privacy Mode

• If you enable Privacy Mode, none of your dictation data (i.e. audio, transcript, edits) will be used to evaluate, train, or improve AI models, by Wispr or any third party. You can enable this in the Wispr Flow app: Settings > Data and Privacy > select "Privacy Mode."
• If you do not have Privacy Mode enabled, your dictation data may be used to evaluate, train, and improve Wispr features and AI models.
• We never sell your data. Our business model is based on selling software, not your information. You own your data.
• Whether or not Privacy Mode is enabled:
  
  • Wispr always maintains zero data retention agreements with all third-party AI providers. This means your data is never stored or used for model training by our subprocessors.
  • Transcription always occurs on the cloud. This is the best way for us to provide accurate, low latency transcription.

Private Cloud Sync

Private Cloud Sync controls whether Wispr stores your transcription data (transcripts, audio, and dictation history) on Wispr's servers. Private Cloud Sync enables current and future features that require persistent, cross-device access to your data.

• If Private Cloud Sync is enabled: Your transcription data is stored on Wispr's servers, encrypted at rest and in transit. This enables cross-device sync for Wispr Scratchpad, making notes accessible across all of your devices. Your data is stored in our US-hosted infrastructure. Only authorized personnel can access it, and we conduct regular security audits.
• If Private Cloud Sync is disabled: Your transcription data is not stored on Wispr's servers. Audio and transcripts are processed in real time and discarded after the request completes. Cross-device sync for Wispr Scratchpad and dictation history will not be available.
• Whether or not Private Cloud Sync is enabled, the following data is always synced across your devices:
  1. Your custom Dictionary
  2. Snippets and custom prompts
  3. Account Settings and Preferences

Zero Data Retention

If you have Privacy Mode enabled and Private Cloud Sync disabled, this corresponds to zero data retention for all audio and transcript data. No dictation data is stored or used for training, by Wispr or any third party.

For Enterprise

Enterprise administrators can configure both Privacy Mode and Private Cloud Sync at the organization level. Individual users cannot override the organization's policy. Contact your Wispr account team or email sales@wisprflow.ai for details.

Other notes

• Wispr always uses information about the app you are dictating in (e.g. app name) to format messages (e.g. formal tone in email, casual tone in messages). It also takes into account the surrounding textbox content to help determine correct capitalization and punctuation, and to edit text with Command Mode.
• Wispr may collect usage statistics such as the number of words you have dictated, regardless of your Privacy Mode or Private Cloud Sync settings.
• If "Context Awareness" is enabled in Settings > Data and Privacy, relevant text data from the active app window may be used to improve transcription accuracy. You can turn this on/off at any time.
• If "Auto-add to Dictionary" is enabled in Settings > Personalization, Flow monitors the text box where it pastes text to detect any edits you made to transcribed words. If you change the spelling of a word, it is automatically added to your dictionary. You can turn this off at any time.
• We use industry-standard encryption (TLS) to protect your data, including your audio and transcripts. Your data is encrypted during transit and at rest on our servers. We are SOC 2 Type 2 compliant.
• Flow uses a combination of open-source models and proprietary LLM providers to provide its services. Wispr has zero data retention agreements with all third-party generative AI providers. No Dictation Data is stored or used for model training by our subprocessors, regardless of your Private Cloud Sync setting.
