Wispr Flow Notetaker Alternatives: When Another Tool Might Fit Better
Picking a meeting notetaker comes down to which meetings you need it for. Wispr Flow isn't the best fit for every team, and we'd rather tell you when.
Wispr Flow Notetaker is built for people who sit in their own meetings and want accurate notes without a bot joining the call. After each meeting, it runs a second pass over the transcript, pulling names from your calendar, personal dictionary, Slack, and Gmail so the notes show who said what. The same subscription includes Wispr Flow dictation in every app, and you can start both on the free plan. While we think we're the best AI notetaker for most people, we also acknowledge that some alternatives satisfy specific needs:
- If you need a language we don't support yet → tl;dv
- If you need to replay the recording, or your data has to stay in the EU → tl;dv
- If you want a platform built exclusively for revenue intelligence → Gong (or Gong alongside Wispr Flow)
- If you need a notetaker to attend meetings you can't → Fireflies
- If you want a free plan with unlimited recording → Fathom
- If you want AI notes built into the meeting app you already use → Zoom, Google Meet, or Microsoft Teams
- If none of these apply → start with Wispr Flow
Your meetings run in a language we don't support yet: tl;dv
Wispr Flow Notetaker transcribes 21 languages. tl;dv lists more than 30.
Languages tl;dv transcribes that Wispr Flow doesn't support yet:
- Bulgarian
- Catalan
- Croatian
- Filipino
- Greek
- Hebrew
- Hungarian
- Indonesian
- Norwegian
- Romanian
- Slovak
- Slovenian
- Thai
- Ukrainian
tl;dv also lets you pick a regional variant, with six varieties of Arabic and separate options for Brazilian and European Portuguese.
Wispr Flow's advantage on language: Notetaker transcribes Bengali, Marathi, and Urdu, none of which appear on tl;dv's transcription list. The full Wispr Flow list as of October 2026 is English, Spanish, French, Portuguese, German, Dutch, Italian, Polish, Russian, Danish, Swedish, Czech, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Hindi, Bengali, Marathi, Urdu, Arabic, and Turkish.
You need to replay the recording, or keep your data in the EU: tl;dv
Wispr Flow deletes meeting audio as soon as transcription finishes. Many teams prefer that: they keep the notes with no stored recording. The tradeoff shows up when a figure in the transcript looks wrong and there's no audio to check it against.
tl;dv keeps the full recording, so you can go back to the exact moment a number came up.
European teams whose data has to stay in the region should also look at tl;dv, which stores customer data in the EU. Wispr Flow processes data on US servers, with a data processing agreement available through the Wispr Trust Center.
Where Wispr Flow fits better: teams that want a written record without keeping recordings. Audio is gone once transcribed, and transcripts can auto-delete on a schedule you set, anywhere from 1 to 365 days.
You want a platform built exclusively for revenue intelligence: Gong
Gong is built for sales organizations that run their pipeline off call data. It records customer calls, then turns them into deal-risk scores and revenue forecasts. Its notetaker is one feature of that platform, and you can't buy it on its own.
For a VP of Sales who wants every customer conversation feeding one forecast, Gong is the right tool. Pricing is custom, and rollouts typically take two to three months.
Wispr Flow and Gong work better together
Customer calls are only part of a rep's day. Wispr Flow covers the rest:
- The internal meetings. Pipeline reviews and one-on-ones with a manager get bot-free notes that Gong isn't set up to take.
- The follow-up. A rep dictates the recap email and the CRM note instead of typing them between calls.
- Calls where a bot doesn't belong. Gong skips its bot only on company-hosted Zoom calls; on a prospect's Teams link, it generally joins as a participant. Wispr Flow captures from the rep's computer on any platform and posts a recording notice in the meeting chat.
- Questions after the call. Through MCP, a rep can ask Claude or ChatGPT to pull up what a prospect committed to last week.
Bot-free recording of customer calls still has to meet the consent rules where you and your attendees are.
You need notes from meetings you can't attend: Fireflies
Wispr Flow captures audio from your own computer, which means you have to be in the meeting. Fireflies can send its notetaker into the call as a participant, record it, and deliver the summary afterward, whether you joined or not. For meetings you do attend, Fireflies also offers a bot-free desktop mode.
Before you send a bot, weigh what it changes about the meeting:
- Everyone sees it. A notetaker in the participant list reminds people they're on the record, and some speak less freely.
- Some hosts remove it. Clients and partners can block notetaker bots or kick them out mid-call.
- It can arrive late. A bot invited to a meeting already underway can take a minute or two to join.
- Attendees didn't choose it. Everyone on the call ends up in a recording made by a service they never signed up for.
If you're in the meeting anyway, Wispr Flow gets you the notes without a bot in the room.
You want unlimited recording for $0: Fathom
Fathom's free plan records and transcribes unlimited meetings, with advanced AI summaries capped at five calls a month. Wispr Flow's free plan includes Notetaker with a weekly meeting limit. On a budget of zero, Fathom gets you further.
What Wispr Flow's free plan includes that Fathom's doesn't: dictation in every app, and bot-free capture on any meeting platform, on both Mac and Windows. Fathom doesn't offer dictation, and its bot-free capture is still rolling out, limited for now to some platforms on Mac.
Once you start paying, Wispr Flow also costs less:

Your team meets only in Zoom, Google Meet, or Teams: built-in AI
If every meeting happens on one platform, the AI notes already inside it may be enough: Zoom AI Companion, Gemini in Google Meet, or Microsoft 365 Copilot in Teams. You add no new vendor, and your IT team has already reviewed the platform. Availability depends on your plan, and each assistant works only on its own platform.
A client sends a Zoom link, a partner uses Teams, and now your notes live in two apps. Wispr Flow captures any call on your computer and keeps every meeting in one searchable history.
Choosing between Wispr Flow and the alternatives
You don't have to pick only one. A sales team can run Wispr Flow next to Gong.
Run Wispr Flow on a few of your own calls before deciding. Wispr Flow is free to try, and if you're coming from Granola, you can import your past notes before your first meeting.
Frequently asked questions
Does Wispr Flow Notetaker join my calls as a bot?
No. Notetaker captures audio from your Mac or Windows computer, so no extra participant appears in Zoom, Google Meet, Teams, or any other call. A recording notice posts in the meeting chat so attendees know notes are being taken.
How does Notetaker get names and jargon right?
After the meeting, Notetaker runs a second pass over the transcript. That pass attaches speaker names from the calendar invite, your personal dictionary, and connected sources like Slack and Gmail. If someone is still unlabeled, you name them once and the correction applies across the whole transcript.
Can I search my meetings from Claude or ChatGPT?
Yes, through the Wispr Flow MCP connector, which works on the free plan.
What happens to my meeting audio?
Wispr Flow deletes the audio as soon as transcription finishes. Transcripts stay until you delete them, or auto-delete on a schedule you set, from 1 to 365 days.
Teams that need tighter control can turn to Enterprise, where model training is off across the organization and written into the contract. Wispr Flow holds SOC 2 Type II and ISO 27001 certifications, with reports available through the Wispr Trust Center.
Can I bring my Granola notes with me?
Yes. Export your Granola history as a CSV, and Wispr Flow imports the notes, summaries, titles, dates, and transcript text so past meetings stay searchable.
What if I lose track partway through a meeting?
Press "What did I miss?" and Notetaker summarizes the last few minutes, so you can rejoin the conversation without asking anyone to repeat themselves. After the meeting, Ask Wispr lets you question your notes directly, like asking what was decided about a launch date.
Is there a free plan?
Yes. The free plan includes Notetaker, speaker identification, and MCP access, enough to test it on real meetings. Pro adds more meetings and unlimited dictation for $15 a month, or $12 a month billed annually.
