Best AI Notetakers for Gong Users: 5 Tools Worth Considering

If your company uses Gong, customer calls are recorded, transcribed, and searchable without you doing anything. But many of your other meetings aren't, making the addition of an alternative AI notetaker worthwhile. Gong users have their fair share of options, but we believe five deserve your attention: Wispr Flow Notetaker, Fireflies, Jamie, Krisp, and Plaud AI.

What Gong doesn't record (and why you might need another notetaker)

What Gong captures depends on your company's recording settings, the meeting invitation, and your account permissions.

Internal meetings may be excluded

Gong administrators can limit automatic recording to calls with at least one external invitee, identified by email domain. That can leave pipeline reviews, team meetings, and internal discussions about customer commitments outside Gong's recorded history.

Some meetings don't record automatically

Even when internal recording is enabled, Gong's recording settings exclude certain meetings from automatic capture:

  • Private calendar events.
  • Meetings scheduled less than 30 minutes in advance.
  • Calls hosted by someone outside your company.
  • Internal meetings excluded by company settings.

Eligible users can invite the Gong recorder or schedule a recording manually. But unless someone takes that extra step, the conversation goes unrecorded.

In-person recording requires extra steps

Gong supports in-person recording through its mobile app, but users need the "Manually schedule and upload" permission and must start recordings themselves.

Recordings are audio-only, quality can suffer in noisy environments, and contacts associated with a mobile recording aren't automatically assigned to speaker tracks. A dedicated in-person notetaker can offer a more convenient recording setup.

Not everyone has a Gong seat

Gong charges per-user licence fees plus a platform fee, so companies have a financial incentive to reserve seats for customer-facing employees.

That leaves people in recruiting, operations, and product without their own recording capabilities, even when their meetings concern customer commitments.

How we selected the best AI notetakers for Gong users

We evaluated five products based on the gaps they could fill for someone whose company already uses Gong:

  • Recording method: Does the application require a visible meeting bot, or can it capture meetings directly from a device? We also compared the best bot-free AI notetakers.
  • Free-plan restrictions: How many meetings can you record before needing to upgrade?
  • Searchable meeting history: Can you find information across previous conversations, or are you limited to reviewing individual notes?
  • AI integrations: Can you access meeting information through Claude or ChatGPT?
  • Retention controls: Who determines how long transcripts and recordings are stored?

Vendor prices, plan details, and feature limits are drawn from published documentation reviewed in September 2026. Gong's recording and integration documentation was checked in November 2026.

Wispr Flow doesn't publish an exact weekly usage allowance for Flow Free. Its description of "generous weekly usage" therefore can't be compared numerically with the limits other vendors publish.

1. Wispr Flow Notetaker: Best for searchable meeting notes alongside Gong

Who it's for: people who want notes from meetings Gong doesn't record, with one searchable history and no upfront purchase.

Wispr Flow Notetaker records directly from a Mac or Windows computer. No meeting bot joins the participant list, which is useful for internal discussions where employees don't want another visible recorder.

The personal dictionary shared with Wispr Flow's voice-typing product helps the transcript recognize names, acronyms, and technical language. Calendar information helps identify attendees, and speakers are named in the refined transcript. If someone isn't recognized, you can assign their name afterward.

Searching across meetings with Ask Flow

On Flow Free, Ask Flow lets you search across your meetings and receive answers citing the original sources.

Suppose a customer raises an implementation concern during a Gong-recorded call. The product team discusses a response in an internal meeting. Wispr Flow Notetaker preserves that second conversation, including decisions and commitments that may never appear in Gong.

Notes, summaries, and transcripts are also available through Claude, ChatGPT, and other compatible AI applications on Flow Free. You can use the meeting context to prepare follow-up emails and recaps without repeatedly copying transcripts into prompts.

You can keep transcripts indefinitely or schedule automatic deletion after 1, 7, 30, 90, 180, or 365 days.

Potential downsides

Wispr Flow Notetaker needs a Mac or Windows computer. It records in-person conversations through a shared microphone, but you'd need the computer in the room. iPhone and Android are on the roadmap.

It supports 21 transcription languages, fewer than Jamie or Plaud AI. Forecasting, deal intelligence, coaching, and CRM writeback also remain Gong's domain.

2. Fireflies: Best for teams that need meeting notes across business applications

Who it's for: sales and operations teams that want a common notetaker across departments, with CRM integrations, channels, and administrative rollout options.

Paid Fireflies plans include unlimited integrations across CRMs, project management applications, dialers, Zapier, and a GraphQL API. If Gong already handles customer-call recording and CRM updates, some of those capabilities are redundant. Fireflies has a stronger argument when departments outside sales need meeting information sent into their own applications.

Recording with or without a meeting bot

The Fireflies.ai Notetaker bot joins calls as a visible participant by default, much like Gong's recorder. Fireflies also supports bot-free capture through its Chrome extension on Google Meet and the desktop app's system-audio mode.

That desktop mode comes with a limitation: speakers appear as Speaker 1 and Speaker 2, and no audio or video file is retained. If you're using the transcript to establish who made a commitment, the speaker labels may require manual review.

The recording methods and integrations are also covered in our Wispr Flow Notetaker vs. Fireflies comparison.

Potential downsides

Fireflies meters AI usage through credits. The Free plan includes 20 AI credits, which AskFred consumes. Its help centre says paid users who run out are automatically subscribed to the next higher AI credits tier, renewing monthly unless paused.

Downloading transcripts, summaries, and recordings starts with Pro. Automatic deletion of older meetings is described as an Enterprise feature.

3. Jamie: Best for European teams with data-processing requirements

Who it's for: European deal teams, consultants, and regulated firms that prioritize where meeting data is processed.

Jamie says all data storage and processing remain within the EEA, Switzerland, and the UK, with audio uploaded to a Frankfurt server and deleted immediately after transcription. It explicitly targets industries including private equity, banking, M&A, law, and consulting.

Meeting capture and search

Jamie records without a meeting bot and works on Mac, Windows, iPhone, and Android. Mobile recording gives it an advantage over Wispr Flow Notetaker for employees who frequently move between online calls and conversations away from their computers.

Jamie transcribes in more than 80 languages. Its chat feature can search a single meeting, a tagged collection, or the entire meeting history on every plan, identifying which meetings informed an answer.

Potential downsides

Jamie's free and entry-level plans impose strict monthly note allowances:

  • Free: 10 AI notes a month, with a 30-minute meeting limit.
  • Plus: €21 a month billed annually, with 20 notes.
  • Pro: €39 a month billed annually, adding Claude and ChatGPT connections.

Jamie's billing documentation says meetings exceeding the credit or duration limit can continue recording, but their summaries remain locked until you upgrade. Custom retention policies are an Enterprise feature.

If European data residency isn't a deciding factor, Jamie's note limits and integration pricing give you reason to consider other Jamie alternatives.

4. Krisp: Best for Gong users who want better meeting audio

Who it's for: anyone who needs noise cancellation, Accent Conversion, and meeting notes in the same application.

Krisp works through a virtual microphone and speaker, cleaning audio before it reaches Zoom or another conferencing application. That means it can improve the sound of customer calls Gong already records.

Krisp also records meetings without a bot, with support for Mac, Windows, iPhone, Android, and a Chrome extension for Google Meet. Transcription is available in 16 languages, and AI Chat can answer questions across the meeting history or within a folder.

Since December 2025, Krisp has supported recording notifications through Zoom, Teams, and Meet chat, along with an audio prompt. It also offers an optional Krisp Bot for users who prefer a visible recorder.

For employees whose meetings primarily happen on Zoom, the recording workflow is covered in our guide to AI notetakers for Zoom.

Potential downsides

There's no permanent free plan. The $0 tier provides seven days of access, and Krisp's Terms say access ends afterward, with 90 days to export content before the account may be deleted.

Core costs $8 per user a month billed annually and includes AI Chat and connections to Claude and ChatGPT.

Krisp's privacy policy says recordings and notes are stored until users instruct Krisp to delete them, but it doesn't publish an automatic retention schedule for the notetaker. Those looking for user-configurable deletion schedules can compare Krisp alternatives.

5. Plaud AI: Best for in-person meetings Gong doesn't automatically record

Who it's for: employees who regularly have important conversations in person or over the phone and don't want to depend on a laptop for recording.

Plaud Note and Note Pro are card-sized recording devices with 64GB of storage and up to 30 hours of recording. Both support phone-call capture through a vibration conduction sensor, while the NotePin offers a wearable option. You can bring one into a physical meeting without opening a laptop or launching a conferencing application.

Gong offers manual in-person recording through its mobile app, but requires the appropriate permission and doesn't automatically assign associated contacts to speaker tracks.

Online recording and AI integrations

Plaud Desktop supports online meetings through a Beta application for Mac and Windows, capturing system audio without joining the call.

The platform supports 112 languages and more than 10,000 templates. Its MCP server, Claude connector, and ChatGPT app are free on every plan.

Potential downsides

The transcription allowance depends on owning a Plaud device.

Starter includes 300 transcription minutes per month, activated only after a recorder is linked to the account. Plaud Desktop also requires an active Starter membership.

Unused minutes don't carry over. Recording continues after the allowance is exhausted, but transcription pauses. Ask Plaud can search only files that have been transcribed.

The Plaud Note costs $159.00, with Pro priced at $8.33 a month billed annually.

How to use an AI notetaker alongside Gong

You generally shouldn't record customer calls twice simply because another notetaker is installed. That creates a separate copy of customer information outside the platform your company governs. Some organizations enforce consent through Gong recording profiles, and a personal notetaker shouldn't bypass those requirements.

Search Gong and Wispr Flow Notetaker together in Claude

Gong operates an MCP server that allows compatible AI applications, including Claude and ChatGPT, to access Gong insights. An administrator must enable the integration, and users need a paid Gong seat with appropriate permissions. Gong also requires a supported AI application subscription.

Wispr Flow Notetaker connects to Claude and ChatGPT on Flow Free, so with both connections configured, you can search the two meeting histories in one Claude conversation.

For example:

Search Gong and Wispr Flow Notetaker. What concerns have customers raised about onboarding, and which changes has the product team discussed internally? Use both sources and cite the relevant meetings.

Access remains limited by your permissions and the information each connection exposes. Gong's trackers, scores, forecasting, and CRM writeback stay in Gong, and employees without the necessary paid Gong access can't independently search its MCP server.

Gong's retention policies don't change

Gong's standard retention period for existing customers is the lesser of three years and the length of their contract. Administrators manage retention, and individual deletion privileges depend on the user's permission profile.

Review the second notetaker's storage and retention controls before recording confidential meetings, especially when your company already has rules governing where those conversations may be stored.

When Gong is enough without another AI notetaker

If Gong already records the meetings you need, you don't need another notetaker.

Gong is also the appropriate platform for organizations relying on deal intelligence, forecasting, coaching, trackers, and CRM writeback. None of these five notetakers replaces that collection of revenue-specific features.

Gong's enterprise controls are difficult to replace

Gong connects with CRMs, Slack, Teams, calendars, phone systems, and Zapier, and advertises a directory of more than 300 integrations.

Its governance capabilities include:

  • SSO and SCIM.
  • An audit API.
  • Per-workspace retention.
  • Redaction.
  • Bring-your-own-key.

Consent enforcement is another reason to keep customer recordings within Gong. Administrators can configure recording profiles requiring a consent page, audio prompt, or pre-call email. Gong says the recording notice in that email cannot be removed or edited.

If your company requires centrally enforced recording behavior across its customer-facing workforce, an individually managed notetaker may be inappropriate for those calls.

Which AI notetaker should Gong users choose?

I'd start with Wispr Flow Notetaker if your missing meetings happen on Mac or Windows. Test it on an internal discussion Gong doesn't record. Review the transcript's terminology, check whether the summary captures decisions correctly, and try retrieving a detail a few days later.

Try Wispr Flow Notetaker for free and start building a searchable record of your other meetings.

Frequently asked questions about Gong and AI notetakers

Does Gong automatically record internal meetings?

Only when your company's settings permit it. Gong administrators can record internal web conferences or limit automatic capture to meetings with an external invitee.

Private calendar events, meetings scheduled less than 30 minutes in advance, and externally hosted calls may also require manual recording arrangements.

Can I use Gong and another AI notetaker together?

Yes, provided your organization permits the application and you meet consent requirements. Use Gong for customer recordings governed by your company and another notetaker for permitted meetings outside that coverage.

Can I search Gong and Wispr Flow Notetaker in Claude?

Yes. With Gong's MCP server enabled for your account and Wispr Flow Notetaker connected to Claude, you can request information from both sources in one conversation. Gong requires an authorized paid seat and a supported AI application subscription.

Can I move my Gong history into Wispr Flow Notetaker?

Neither product offers a direct importer for transferring meeting histories between them.

Searching both through Claude is an alternative for retrieving information, but it doesn't merge the archives or transfer Gong's revenue intelligence features.

Which notetaker works best for in-person meetings?

Plaud AI is the most purpose-built choice when you don't want to bring a computer. Jamie and Krisp support mobile recording, while Wispr Flow Notetaker supports in-person transcription through a shared microphone connected to a Mac or Windows computer.

Which notetaker gives me the most control over transcript retention?

Wispr Flow Notetaker offers user-configurable retention on every plan, including indefinite storage or automatic deletion after 1, 7, 30, 90, 180, or 365 days.

Fireflies and Jamie describe retention schedules as Enterprise features. Krisp doesn't publish an automatic retention schedule for its notetaker, while Gong's settings are administered centrally.

Do participants know when Wispr Flow Notetaker is recording?

Wispr Flow Notetaker doesn't appear as a visible meeting participant. It keeps a consent reminder on screen, provides guidance, and supports adding a Notetaker notice to calendar invitations.

Your organization may require confirmation before recording begins. You remain responsible for informing participants and obtaining any consent required by law or company policy.
