Questions

How accurate are the transcripts?
Answer:

Notetaker was built by the team behind Flow, where getting words right is what we do.

Most meeting tools transcribe your conversation cold. Notetaker starts with your context: the people on your calendar, the names and jargon in your personal dictionary, and information from connected tools like Gmail and Slack.

That means names like “Aditya” are spelled correctly, product names stay intact, and every transcript gets a second pass from a more powerful model to catch mistakes.

The best way to see the difference: record one meeting with Notetaker alongside your current tool and compare the transcripts.

How does Notetaker know who said what?
Answer:

Notetaker identifies speakers using your calendar invite, personal dictionary, and conversational context, like when someone says “thanks, Priya.”

During the meeting, the live transcript separates you from other speakers. After the meeting ends, the polished transcript adds full name labels.

Speaker labels are most accurate on video calls where each person joins from their own device. In shared conference rooms, Notetaker uses conversation context to identify people when they’re mentioned.

If a speaker is ever unlabeled or mislabeled, assign the name once and apply it across the entire transcript.

What apps and tools does Notetaker work with?
Answer:

If your Mac can play it, Notetaker can capture it. Zoom, Google Meet, Teams, Slack huddles, Discord, or a call in your browser, with no integrations to set up and no bot to invite.

Do I need to get user consent?
Answer:

Always let participants know before recording or transcribing a conversation, whether it’s a video call, in-person meeting, or phone call.

Notetaker captures audio locally on your device rather than joining calls as a visible bot, so participants may not receive an automatic notification that transcription is taking place. You are responsible for informing everyone before you begin.

Recording and consent laws vary by state and country. If you’re unsure what rules apply, seek legal advice.

Can I use my meeting notes in Claude, ChatGPT, or other AI tools?
Answer:

Yes. Connect Notetaker to AI tools like Claude and ChatGPT through MCP. Your meeting history becomes searchable context for your AI, so you can ask questions across past conversations ("what did we decide about pricing last month?"), draft follow-ups from what was actually said, and send action items to your other tools.

Your accurate meeting notes become context your AI can actually use.

For more information, see our guide Connecting Notetaker to your AI Tools.

Does it work for in-person meetings?
Answer:

Yes. Notetaker records from your Mac's microphone, so it works for conference rooms, coffee chats, interviews, and anywhere else you're meeting face to face.

Can I record meetings that aren't on my calendar?
Answer:

Yes!

If a meeting is not on your calendar, Notetaker will detect that you are in a call and ask if you want to start taking notes. This works on Meet, Zoom, Teams, and even WhatsApp or Facetime.

I'm coming from Granola, Otter, or Fathom. Do I lose my history?
Answer:

No. If you're using Granola, you can import your notes into Notetaker with one click. For other tools, you can connect your existing notes alongside Notetaker through Claude and MCP, keeping everything searchable in one place while your new meeting history builds. Our switching guide walks you through the process step by step.

Is my data private? What happens to the audio after a meeting ends?
Answer:

Your meetings are yours.

Meeting audio is encrypted and stored only temporarily on your device and, in some cases, in secure cloud storage. This allows Notetaker to do what you ask: create transcripts, let you resume meetings, improve and verify transcription quality, and troubleshoot issues when needed. After that limited period, audio is automatically deleted.

Notetaker does not create voiceprints or biometric profiles of you or anyone on your calls. Your content is never sold and is never used to train models without your consent. You can delete any meeting, transcript, or note at any time.

For more information, view our Privacy Policy.

Is Notetaker free? Can my team use it?
Answer:

Notetaker is included with Wispr Flow, and Flow's free plan is free forever. Upgrade to Pro for unlimited use, and Flow for Teams covers your whole company under one plan.

What languages can I use Notetaker in?
Answer:

Notetaker supports English today, with more languages coming soon. You're welcome to try it on meetings in other languages, but expect mixed results until dedicated support arrives.

What platforms can I use Notetaker on?
Answer:

Notetaker runs on Mac today, with Windows support coming soon and mobile on the roadmap. In the meantime, Flow dictation is already on Mac, Windows, iPhone, and Android.
